As I type this letter, a gorgeous and perfect black Lab puppy naps beside me in his crate. This is nothing short of a miracle in our lives.
My husband and I love dogs, but our attempts at dog adoptions didn't work out well. Our adopted dogs came to us with diseases on board. We nursed dogs through devastating illnesses, illnesses whose progress interfered with house breaking, crate training and socialization into family life. Ultimately we lost these adopted dogs to disease or its aftermath. It was hard on the dogs, it was hard on our boys, and it was hard on us. We never were able to sort out the effects of disease vs. our apparent inability to house break, crate train and appropriately socialize a dog. We swore off of dogs for a long, long time, choosing instead to fill our home with every other type of pet.
There was an empty place, however, that only a dog could fill. We admire the bond between loving owners and well-trained, faithful dogs. Both of us longed for the companionship that dogs offer. After many years of eschewing dog ownership, we decided to try again. This time we went in search of a dog with training wheels, a dog with a support infrastructure in place, a dog who was smart enough to help us train him, a dog who would socialize well with our family and friends, who would be gentle with children, who would be respectful of our chubby and indulged house cat.
We consulted with friends who are experienced with dogs, who know our lifestyle and our family, and time and time again we heard "Get a Lab!" So we searched for a reputable breeder, and thank goodness we found Dan and Jake at Warren Retrievers.
During our initial conversation, I shared the sad details of our previous adoptions with Dan, along with my concern that perhaps we are not smart enough people to own a dog! Dan was patient with me during that and subsequent conversations, calming my fears, giving me hope and confidence that perhaps we could be successful dog owners. Throughout the weeks in which we waited to bring our puppy home, Dan and Jake held my hand, held the phone receiver and patiently answered my questions and addressed my concerns, and ultimately held my heart in their hands when they delivered to us a perfect little Labrador Retriever named Sammy.
Sammy is the perfect puppy. We are all besotted with him. Our friends and family don't come over to see us anymore; they come over to see Sammy! He is unbearably cute, he is unbelievably well-behaved, we are in awe of how smart he is, and what a quick study he has become. Training him is a joy; he learns so quickly and he is so eager to please. Sammy is gentle with children, respectful of our cat, and polite to everyone he meets. Our hearts swell with pride when Sammy politely sits to greet a new friend and offers his paw. Don't get me wrong- Sammy is a puppy, and he is all puppy, all the time! We have our share of "No!" and "Leave it!" but it is amazing to us that a puppy of his age learns these commands, and many others, so quickly.
Warren Retriever's Fast Start program is the only way to go. It is worth every penny. Because of the Fast Start program, crate-training and house-breaking at home have been a breeze, non-issues in fact. Sammy had been at home with us for a few weeks when, upon answering an inquiry from a friend, I found myself saying, "Sammy? Oh, he's no trouble at all!" Who can say that about a puppy? Thanks to Warren Retrievers and their Fast Start program, we can!
We have also engaged Dee Bogetti, master dog trainer, through Warren Retrievers, to teach us how to best train Sammy. She has helped us to understand the world through Sammy's experience, and given us the tools we need to be a successful and happy dog family. Her guidance and support are invaluable and again, worth every penny.
Sammy goes almost everywhere with us. He is our constant companion in any situation that is dog-appropriate and appropriate for his age. One aspect of this process for which I was not prepared: the amount of attention that Sammy attracts. Sammy stops traffic- literally. People stop their cars, pull over to the side of the street to comment on how well-behaved Sammy is, how gorgeous he is, and to ask how old he is. When we tell them that Sammy is mere months old, the next question is invariably, "Where did you get him?" Sammy is a worthy ambassador for Warren Retrievers, for Labrador Retrievers and for dogs in general.
There is no doubt that Sammy has enriched our lives. Who can resist the unmitigated joy with which a puppy greets the world? Every day is a gift, and Sammy never fails to remind us of that.
We unreservedly recommend Warren Retrievers to anyone who is interested in acquiring one of their fine puppies.

Saying thanks to Dan and Jake doesn't seem like enough. When we lost our lab way to young we searched for a long time for a breeder that seemed trustworthy. We couldn't seem to find any that clicked with us. Then we received a call from Dan of Warren retrievers. He talked to us for over an hour the first night. He has the most complete knowledge of the breed we've seen but more important he can read people and help place the perfect pup with them. They are professional and yet the most down to earth people we've ever dealt with. You not only have an opportunity to receive a loving new member of the family but you will have an extended family including Dan, Jake and all of his girls. He opens his house to you and can answer any questions you have.
When we picked up Roxy it was rather late at the airport but Dan kept in touch with us the entire time until she was in our car riding home. She is quickly turning from the princess of the family into the queen around the house. She is energetic, spirited, and very intelligent. She is gorgeous as you can see in the pictures as are all of Dans dogs. She is now seven months old and growing into quite a lovely lady.
There isn't enough we can say here to allow you to realize just how great we feel about dealing with Dan. You have to talk to him to get the full impact of his passion for what he does. His involvement doesn't end after you receive your pup. We hear from him on a regular basis and is always willing to talk to us anytime. We have been thinking of adding to the family and there is no doubt where we will go to do that. We will never have to worry about anything when the time comes. We know Dan will take care of everything and find the perfect sister or brother for Roxy. If anybody wants to contact us, feel free, we are always ready to talk about Roxy and would be glad to help in any way.

We are the excited owners of Bailey a Warren Retriever. Working with Dan and Warren Retrievers was a joy and continues to be. Dan is a great friend and from the very first conversation I knew we had chosen the best breeder of Labradors.
Dan gave us all the information that we could ask for and was very patient with all our questions and concerns and even our kids running all over his house and yard.
Dan made us feel very at ease and comfortable, and I know we can call on him at any time.

Dan walked us step by step through the process. From the very first visit to his home to the day we picked Bailey up we knew exactly what to expect. I would recommend Dan and Warren Retrievers to anyone interested in a Lab. Thanks Dan for a great experience and we look forward to a long friendship.

We are the proud family of Caesar, a five month old Chocolate Lab from Warren Retrievers. This is a first dog for us and we are learning as we go. We were very fortunate to discover Warren Retrievers and the quality that is promised of their dogs. Caesar is a first rate breed with the looks and disposition that far surpasses Warren Retrievers promise and our expectations! The wait seemed interminable but has been rewarded with a pup that has touched our family more profoundly that we ever imagined. Warren's quality of breed shows in the dog's disposition and willingness to learn quickly as well as his handsome appearance! Caesar is a very happy, healthy, spirited, energetic, willing to please, striking, affectionate and obedient companion. We look forward to him being a part of our family for many years to come!

We consider ourselves very fortunate in having met Dan Warren of Warren Retrievers. In June 2009, we picked up our chocolate lab puppy and we have been delighted with this new addition to our family.
We contacted Dan by phone in the Spring of 2009 and drove from NJ to Virginia to personally meet him. His facility was outstanding and his level of knowledge, dedication and enthusiasm to breeding superb Labradors was very impressive. We were introduced to several of his dogs and found each and every one of them outstanding.
Dan truly cares about his puppies, his customers and the homes that they will provide the animals.
Our next visit to Dan was to select our new puppy after seeing photos each week from the day the puppies were born until they were old enough for us to visit. At that time we had the nearly impossible task of picking just one of the beautiful pups available from this litter. We were encouraged to spend as much time as needed to make our selection. The puppy we selected, Jersey Boy, is a beautiful dark chocolate male who is now a thriving one-year-old. He has brought much happiness and entertainment to our lives. He is very healthy, smart, energetic, lovable and friendly .

We have recommended Warren Retrievers to a number of our friends and will continue to recommend Dan to good people who are looking for the best of the breed.
Many thanks to Dan and Jake for being great guys and for providing us with a great pup.

Our red fox lab male puppy was born and 14 January 2010 and we brought him home on 5 March 2010. He joined 3 brothers and a sister also labs including 2 chocolates and 2 English yellow labs. Our puppy has brought a lot of joy to our family and we are so pleased to have him. He is growing into a beautiful lab 45 pounds at 18 weeks, tall, thin, with LOTS of energy. He is very responsive to verbal communication and we are making great strides with his training. He loves to hike with us and swim in our lake a true retriever with great hunting instincts too. You will be most happy with your new puppy from Warren Retrievers if you take them time to work with him or her, carefully train them, and give them lots of fun and exercise. All of our dogs, including our newest addition from Warren Retrievers, are motivated by love and encouragement and they are so eager to learn and please. We can't wait to add another Warren Retriever pup to our family. Warren's quality of breed shows in the dog's disposition and willingness to learn quickly as well as his handsome appearance!

Hi Dan,
We wanted to take a minute to thank you and your amazing team at Warren Retrievers for our incredible puppy, Brooks.
Brooks is only 3 months old and is already excelling in every aspect we can think of. It is quite obvious what a well-bred, intelligent animal he is. As you know, we enrolled Brooks in the Fast Start program and I have to tell you, it was the best money we have ever spent. Since his first night home, Brooks has slept through the night, completely comfortable in his crate and with no accidents. The training you and Dee did was priceless. You should have seen the looks we got on the street when our 10-pound puppy would sit on command at crosswalks. At 15 weeks he sits, shakes, lies down and rolls over all on command.
My family has owned many labs; subsequently we have dealt with many breeders. The experience we had at Warren Retrievers was one in a million. You covered every concern, question and even had me out to your home to visit Brooks at 5 weeks. Your grounds are truly dog heaven and kept at the utmost of standards- very similar to your dogs.
I couldn’t ask for a more knowledgeable, responsive breeder who goes above and beyond to deliver the best quality dog. I even called you on your cell from my vet at home with a question, months after you received payment for the dog, and not only did you answer right away but you walked me slowly through everything I needed. I have already referred one friend who purchased a Warren Retriever (Lucy’s Litter) and I plan to refer many more.
Thank you again for such a wonderful addition to our lives. Below are some pictures of Brooks thus far- I will send more as he gets bigger.
Fondly,

We own a beautiful and happy male Chocolate Labrador Retriever purchased from Warren Retrievers, born in April 2010, named Chance. This puppy is our 3rd Chocolate Lab so we are not new to the breed, but Chance is our first puppy from Warren Retrievers. Since the beginning I wanted to write a testimonial but struggled over what to say that was different from all the others written. Everyone who has had contact with or purchased a puppy from Dan knows that he is an amazing breeder who truly becomes part of the family and I agree 100% with every testimonial written.

But, I decided to address those of you who have chosen (or are considering) to purchase a purebred dog rather than adopt. A nice breeder is a wonderful plus and Dan, Luke and Dee certainly do more than any breeder I have ever known. However, in the end what we all want is a healthy dog with predictable traits, it’s why we purchase.
Many get a new dog because one was lost one. We lost our 9 year old Chocolate Lab suddenly to brain cancer in December. We were devastated and I was certain I could never love another dog: a new puppy was out of the question. We still had our 7 year old Lab, Hope, and I was sure she would also get over the loss in time. But my wise husband knew eventually we would need another family member so he started a quiet and extensive search for the best breeder. My husband spent months interviewing breeders nationwide and owners of other Labs about their breeders. He was relentless in this quest and kept going, marking breeders off the list until he spoke (interrogated is probably more accurate) to Dan. That night at dinner my husband announced, "The search is over, I have found our breeder and we are going to get a new puppy from Warren Retrievers.” And so Chance entered our life in June 2010.
I want everyone to know that Warren Retrievers breeds the very best Labradors. Our puppy, Chance, is such a strikingly beautiful dog that strangers stop us to comment on how pretty he is and what good manners he has (mind you he is only 4 months old) and how they know a Lab that is a hyperactive maniac, etc. Our puppy daycare, where all the dogs run free in an outdoor yard, posted his picture on their website and the staff tells us every day that he is a leader and how every single dog there loves him. Our vet tells us that she thinks Chance is a perfect Labrador. PERFECT! She says it is rare to see a Lab puppy with such a wonderful temperament, so smart, with the shiniest coat she has ever seen and most importantly, he is in excellent health.
Warren Retrievers breeds quality Labradors. No one should even consider buying from anyone else. What more is there to know?
Please call us if you want to know more about our experience.
